The MICSED programme is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA). This generous research funding, named after the double Nobel Prize winning Polish-French scientist famed for her work on radioactivity, supports researchers across a large range of disciplines.
MICSED (project reference: 606869) was granted with an Innovative Training Network (ITN) fellowship, taking the form of an European Industrial Doctorate (EID). The doctoral training is delivered by an academic partner (Durham University) and an industrial partner (P&G), each ESR being jointly supervised by supervisors from the academic and non-academic sector. Conditions for the fellowship are that the ESRs must spend at least 50% of their time at the industrial partner’s facilities and that the organisations should be established in at least two different EU or associated countries.
This set-up offers a unique opportunity to the ESRs:
- graduating with a PhD from a world-top 100 university, in partnership with a world-leading company and with a prestigious fellowship
- gain 3-year experience in both academia and industry
- develop scientific and soft skills through a high quality training
- build a large network of academic and industrial scientists
