“The Effective ITN Researcher”, a four day training course run by Hutchinson training was undertaken by the 5 MICSED students. The course was run in conjuction with the award winning Centre for Academic and Desearcher Development (CARD) from Durham University.
47 ESRs and ERs from five Initial Training Networks, (Notedev, Nanoembrace, Molesco, Fluor21 and MICSED) met in Durham, in November 2104 for the workshop which developed skills in communication, impact, personal effectiveness and collaborative working. The interactive course challenged the participants to engage with case studies and collaborate to solve complex problems and develop new ideas. This highlighted the importance of the interdisciplinary work promoted by the ITNs. The MICSED group were also tasked with designing an outreach activity to share their research with the public.
